 Food Forest Over de Hobbel

On my property at Over de Hobbel, I am setting up a food forest and food garden, going through the entire process of permits, design, and realization. It is a challenge and will only start to feel like a forest in the making after 5 years. But I am learning!

The project combines ecological principles, biodiversity, and circular food production, demonstrating how natural systems and human needs can be interconnected.

I apply design strategies that respect the natural succession and dynamics of ecosystems, combined with knowledge about food supply, herbs, and agroforestry. At the same time, I work closely with the municipality, ecologists, and soon also with volunteers, so that the food forest is well anchored legally, ecologically, and socially.

The forest will serve as a productive, ecological, and educational learning space, where visitors and participants can experience how natural principles are translated into practical solutions and how collaboration and long-term planning contribute to sustainable transitions.

This project demonstrates how I design and realize complex, practical, and ecologically responsible transitions, while learning from and with nature delivers direct, tangible impact.
